I’m so excited! I just finished my first applique’ quilt. I started it 30 years ago, almost to the day. It’s a floral wreath, heavily hand quilted. I have no excuse for why it took me 30 years. The poor thing has been dragged around to two different houses, has survived 7 extensive remodeling projects and is now finally just plain gorgeous. Finishing a quilt is such a good feeling, isn’t it? I haven’t done much quilting this past year. I took my thimble off to type my book, The Navel Diaries: How I Lost My Belly Button and Found Myself. The book is about all the things that are happening to me as I become “mature”: losing my gorgeous navel to the racking cough of pneumonia, getting some gray hair and one white eyebrow hair, getting so much shorter. I wasn’t expecting any of this! Were you? This aging business is so full of surprises. Woo Hoo–boomers rule. You’re invited to the website http://thenaveldiaries.com to check out the book and the blog.
